But an advocate in Madurai found the opening ceremony of the IPL’s 5th edition, `indecent and obscene’ and has filed a petition in the Madras High court. The Court has asked Tamilnadu’s police officers to respond to the petition, that asks for criminal action against pop singer Katy Perry and actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor for staging an `obscene’ cultural show.

Advocate Jebakumar said the “semi-nude dances denigrated men and women” and appealed to the “prurient interest” of public and therefore the celebrities were liable to be booked under Sections 292 (sale of obscene books), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young persons) and 294 (obscene acts and songs) of IPC.
