Telangana is shocked

We are shocked by the statement made by the Prime Minister. The people of Telangana feel shocked and betrayed by the UPA goverment. In fact, the Prime Minister himself was a member of the Pranab Mukherjee committee that Madam Sonia appointed when Telangana MPs met and represented to the CWC. They recommended a separate Telangana to the NDA government, of course at that time through the SRC.

The second SRC stand was taken in 2003 when the Congress was in the Opposition and when L K Advani was Union Home minister and Deputy PM. Congress has thereafter changed its stand. In March 2010, the Prime Minister speaking to national media said Telangana is a separate issue and it won’t come under the second SRC. There is also a Srikrishna Committee report that went into this for more than an year. So SRC is neither applicable, advisable nor acceptable to the people of Telangana.

The Congress stand during UPA-I, the Common Minimum Programme, the Presidential address and the December 9 statement, all go against what the Prime Minister is saying. The Honourable PM says as a repercussion, an agitation may start in other regions of Andhra Pradesh. That is far from the truth.

It goes against the principles of natural justice. If majority opinion has to prevail, where will the minority people ever get justice in the country?

Another question to the UPA is : Will this statement of the Prime Minister stop the demand for a separate state in different parts of the country? Will they give up their fight for a separate state, whether in Gorkhaland, Bodoland or Vidarbha? Wherever it is, they will not.

That is why we urge upon the Congress president, our last hope, to uphold the stand taken under her leadership when it was promised that a Congress-ruled government will create a separate state of Telangana.

We will attend Parliament when the next session begins on November 22 because separate state is only possible through Parliament. We, the Parliament members from Telangana, will attend and bring it to the notice of the country and the UPA government, specially the Prime Minister about the commitments made by the UPA government and ask them to convince UPA partners and look into the sacrifice of 700-odd people, listen to their voice. They killed themselves for the cause.

These so-called `movements’ in the rest of the state, under which the government is taking shelter, are orchestrated and funded by rich Congress MPs like Lagadapati Rajagopal and K V P Ramachandra Rao to Jaganmohan Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu.

What the Congress must recognize is that there is a possibility of a united movement by all the parties in the Telangana region. The repercussions will be harsh. By this statement of the Prime Minister, there may be more ill-will and hatred generated among the Telugu speaking people. Madam Sonia Gandhi, you are our last hope.

One stark reality rather worrisome also. All over the peice Madma Sonia is the last hope. How come one person decides the fate of an entire state. Why should India’s grand old party be a pet of one person. This is a sad comment and dangerous for democracy. You say majority cannot decide for minority, it is not natural justice. So madam sonia decides and leaders agree is natural justice, this is a matter of shame to self diginity.

I request politicians to rise above theese petty political excuses and stand up for the people who elected them. Today it is Telangana tomorrow it will be for a grant to telangana, day after for a water project in Telangana. So every time Madam Sonia will dictate and leaders will agree. This is not democracy.

It is a shame that you say Madam Sonia is your last hope.

PS: Pranab Mukherjee is much more experienced and senior why  not adress him as Shree or jee why such respect only for “Madma Sonia”
