About us

Hi friends,

Welcome to The South Reports that is the most preferred website for the best blogs and bloggers from south India. Visit us for a confluence of views and analysis of all that is happening in south India as well as the best of healthy citizen journalism. TSR is a venture of TSS Media based in Hyderabad, India.

What is it: TSR is the website that south Indians turn to, to read the most well-written blogs on topics concerning south India or anything that a south Indian living in any part of the world would be interested in.

In today’s world where corporate and politicial ownership of media organisations is putting a huge question mark over the independence of the media, TSR is a unique experiment where a community is sought to be created where the members are the stakeholders. They are the `reporters’ as well as the `consumers’. This brand of citizen journalism also makes it fiercely independent that will only gain in strength as the number of members of TSR grow.

Vision: Our vision is to make The South Reports one of the most vibrant media platforms in this age of the social media, which is fiercely independent and where everyone gets to make himself and herself heard. It is an opportunity to read quality writing besides get to discuss some of the more serious and even fun subjects concerning any one of us.

Why TSR? Because regional vernacular media does not cater to the south Indian who thinks and writes in English. Because national media is over obsessed with the Delhi view of India. TSR will be a platform which will combine the best of print and television and give space to what’s happening in the south. Importantly, it will be a view from cities like Mysore, Kochi, Chennai and Vizag and other parts of south India, not from Delhi.

How to get started

TSR is not a website where people zip in and zip out. It is a vibrant community of members who interact with each other. So we request you to take out just 5 minutes and sign up as a member. We have kept it as simple as we can, including some mandatory anti-spam checks.

You can sign up using your Facebook, Twitter or Google accounts as well. Please do post your profile picture as well so that there is a face to your name!

Signing up as a member will enable you to post comments and interact with other members.

What is on offer

Blogs: The best known names of India, by invitation, blog for TSR. Short, crisp and well-written blogs (not more than 500 words please). This is an attempt to put on centrestage issues and concerns that matter to the south Indian, living either in the region, in other parts of India or abroad.

While blogs are obviously an expression of individual opinion, the editorial team wants to stress that any material that attacks individuals or organisations, defames, insults, abuses or casts aspersions will not be published on TSR. The team also reserves the right to edit content and change headlines posted by the members, to make the blogs look and read better.

If you like or dislike a post, or agree or disagree with the views expressed, please do post a comment on the blog. But please do appreciate that the attempt is to build a healthy community. So rude and abusive language is a strict No-no. The TSR team reserves the right to remove abusive comments on any of the posts.

No honararium is paid for any of the blogs. What TSR will of course, ensure is that the blogs will be showcased well and marketed so that they are read by a large number of people.

The views expressed in the blogs are personal and not necessarily those of TSR owners or employees. Our Terms of Service specify all the terms for engagement on TSR. Take a look at some of the blogs that are posted on the site and you would get an idea of what works for our readers.

Photoblogs: A picture speaks louder than a thousand words. Therefore the photoblog occupies the pride of place on our website. So if you are a photographer or have some interesting pictures that capture the spirit of India, get in touch with the Editor to discuss the theme of the photoblog. We would be delighted to showcase them. Since the photographs need to be formatted, we would prefer that you mail them to us and we will do the rest.

Cartoons: Well-known cartoonist Irfan Khan posts his cartoons on TSR everyday as does teacher-cum-cartoonist Archana Rao. So for a daily dose of humour, check out Irfan’s World. If you would like to do cartoons on TSR, please feel free to get in touch with us.

Video Reports : The best videos and interviews from the south. This is the space we want members / contributors to use to shoot their own videos (maximum 2 minutes in length) on issues of public interest and send them to the Editor. Please bear in mind that we would appreciate quality videos, which means we would not be able to publish videos with bad audio and jerky shots.

Groups: City groups to engage in discussions on issues concerning your city.

Tenali Rama Reports: This is our sister website. Tenali Rama reports in his own inimitable satirical manner on the news events of the day, from all over the world.
