A slice of the South in Mumbai

Want a taste of South India in Mumbai at an affordable price? I suggest you head to Fort in Mumbai.

These pictures are from the Anand Bhavan Hindu Hotel that does not add its real estate cost to the bill like all other eateries in Mumbai. A thali lunch here costs just Rs. 35. As for the taste, it’s the closest you can get to the taste of a standardised south in Mumbai.

The only reason it’s here is because it hasn’t changed with the times and doesn’t serve Sichuan Dosa.

I am seeing this hotel for the last over 3 decades. It has lost its position in the heirarchy. It wears a deserted look most times. I have not visited it in the recent past. I will visit and then put in a comment.

It has not changed with the times. Udipi hotels of similar vintage found in Fountain area have survived very well. It is a sad testimony of the neglect by its owners- whosever they are now.
